"Killer Camera" Title Page
In this title page, I have created a number of elements to represent the story. The first and most obvious one of all is the camera lens. An object essential to the story is the Pentax camera that Matthew buys for his camera, thus the picture of the Pentax camera lens. However, the picture of the lens, rather than behind a random picture, is a specific picture of a specific lens. This represents two things.First of all, Matthew wants to have a perfect present. He doesn't have a blurry image of what he wants, but a clear-cut idea that he needs the absolutely perfect present for his dad. Secondly, the specific nature of the picture of the lens represents Matthew's intent to find the source of the camera rather than letting it go. Also, Matthew figures out that as the college students were playing around with the ouija board and other dark magic, a demon appeared, and as one of the students took a picture, the demon was captured into the camera. This is why there is a demon inside the lens. Furthermore, I chose the green, red, and black fonts primarily because the colors on the cover of the anthology, Horrowitz Horrors (in which the story "Killer Camera" is found) are green and red. Lastly, there is a white to black gradient in the background. This represents the beginning and the end of the story. At the start, everything seems fine and pure, represented by the color white. As the story goes on, complications pile upon each other, and ultimately leads to the doom of London, represented by the dark color, black. The reason why I chose black instead of any other dark color is because when London is destroyed is that the sun fades out, and darkness, which is represented by the color black, rolls in. Furthermore, there are fading lights behind the demon. These lights are similar to those you would see in a picture where the lens isn't focused on the light, so the light appears as colorful polygons. On top of that, the lights are also fading in color and in opacity. This directly shows the ending of the short story, where London is overcome by darkness.
